psychiatry (n.)

1846, from French psychiatrie, from Medieval Latin psychiatria, literally "a healing of the soul," from Latinized form of Greek psykhē "mind" (see psyche) + iatreia "healing, care" (see -iatric).

About Attentive Psychiatry:

Attentive Psychiatry offers a holistic and supportive approach to helping people manage and understand their mental health needs.

Mental suffering is a painful and often lonely journey. Symptoms arising from mental health crises can also be seen as expressions of valuable information that are essential to listen to and understand. By exploring the meanings of our thoughts and  feelings during a crisis an opportunity for personal growth and understanding can arise. With greater understanding of the communication from our mind and body it is possible to bring about the change necessary in order to be able to heal the past and achieve our future goals.

Through greater understanding of underlying vulnerabilities, past trauma and in-the-moment triggers that provoke a crisis we can work together to find a way forward in recovery, meaning finding and enjoyment in every day life.

The Chinese use two brush strokes to write the word ‘crisis.’ One brush stroke stands for danger; the other for opportunity. In a crisis, be aware of the danger—but reconize the opportunity.
— John F. Kennedy
In the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity.
— Albert Einstein
